Guru Padmasambhava

Padmasambhava, also known as Guru Rinpoche, is a legendary figure in Tibetan Buddhism who is credited with helping to establish and spread the religion in Tibet. He is thought to be a historical figure from the eighth century, but much of his life story has been embellished with legendary and mythological elements.

Padmasambhava is said to have been born in a lotus flower in a lake in Odiyana, which is said to be in present-day Pakistan or Afghanistan. He is said to have been a skilled magician and tantric practitioner who was invited to Tibet in the 8th century by King Trisong Detsen to help subdue local demons and establish Buddhism.

Padmasambhava is associated with many important texts and practices in Tibetan Buddhism, including the Tibetan Book of the Dead and the Dzogchen practice. He is also said to have hidden many treasures (terma) throughout Tibet, which his disciples and other great masters later discovered.

Padmasambhava is considered a Buddha in Tibetan Buddhism and is regarded as one of the religion's most important figures. His life story and teachings continue to be an inspiration to practitioners all over the world.
