Tilopa was an Indian Buddhist master who lived in the 10th century. He is best known as the founder of the Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism, which emphasizes meditation practice and teaching transmission through direct lineage.Tilopa was a wandering yogi who claimed to have learned directly from the tantric goddess Vajrayogini. He is said to have studied under several masters, including the renowned Naropa, who would later become his most important disciple.Tilopa is best known for teaching the "Six Yogas of Naropa," a collection of advanced tantric practices intended to help practitioners achieve enlightenment in a single lifetime. These practices entail manipulating subtle energy channels as well as using meditation and visualization to alter one's perception of reality.Tilopa is also well-known for his poetry, which is said to express the profound wisdom and realization gained through his practice.
