Collection: Stupa of Reconciliation

The Stupa of Reconciliation, also known as Yidum Chorten, serves as a profound monument commemorating a pivotal moment in the history of the Sangha and the Buddha's teachings.

This stupa stands as a symbol of the Buddha's remarkable achievement in reconciling factions within the Sangha. The divisions had arisen due to the enmity instigated by his cousin, Devadatta. The Buddha's successful reunion of the Sangha at the Veluvana bamboo grove in Rafagriha inspired the local inhabitants of the kingdom of Magadha to construct a stupa in honor of this significant event.
